With such varied levels of flash based projects , how do you prove your skills or how can a company be assured of your knowledge and ability , obviously there must be many ways , But the best way is becoming Macromedia Certified. Once you have the macromedia certification , either designer or developer , you really dont have to bother carrying your portfolio to prove your skills in flash.
