August 2004 Meeting: The sequel

Sorry about being late on this one. On Friday, the 6th of August, 2004 IndiaMMUG duly met at Barista, Santa Cruz, Mumbai, INDIA. Those who made it were rewarded with a few visual delights, other than just Flash, i can assure you. But seriously, the first steps have been taken and i am sure more of such meetings will stand the Indian Macromedia Community in good stead.

The meeting went off well and I did indeed meet some serious talent in the world of Flash designing and development. There was a good amount of interaction between the two groups and queries generally evoked quick and ‘to-the-point’ responses, courtesy Brajeshwar. And imagine all this, over a cup of a simmering caffeine laced drink. Sigh

  Father Time took a backseat till, fortunately or unfortunately, one of us realized that it was 10:30 PM and we needed to break it up. To sum it up, ’twas three hours of crystallized and unadulterated flash tech talk with a few references to other technologies as well. Prashant and Anish gave me a few pointers about designing skills and their approach towards flash projects. Brajeshwar was the point of reference when we stumbled in our discussions.

  Abdul could not make it as he had unfinished business with his suitcase, so we missed his valuable presence, though his name was mentioned time and again as to how quickly he responds to queries directed to him. Heres wishing the best to him in his future endeavor where I’m sure he will contribute towards ‘THE ENTERPRISE’ and to the community in general.

  Personally, it was memorable ’cause among all that transpired, I won the prize that Brajeshwar had mentioned before. $1500 of pure Macromedia oodness!!! Aha… that is life. Gotta thank Brajeshwar for that one as he was the ne who arranged it from the guys at San Francisco. For all those who have sent n their congratulations, I acknowledge humbly.

  Unfortunately, none had their digicams so pictoral representation of the meeting could not be captured. By the way, we were so engrossed that we decided to dump the air-conditioning ambience for the seating arrangement on the pavement. It must have been quite a scene for those around us, watching as we went through round after rounds of animated conversation, punctuated by loud references to ‘Delegate class’ and ‘Easing-In Tween’. Brajeshwar suggested that we devote a few moments everyday murmuring pronouns like Moock, Skinner, Chambers among many of our gurus (list is not exhaustive by any strech of ‘any’ imagination). I did my bit by adding the likes of Forta to the list above and that we bow heads with our hands held aloft whenever such names were taken. Excuse the pun, but seriously, it was fun.

  I hope more of you guys and gals attend the next meeting, whenever it is held, as in such meetings there is the potential to exchange ideas and learn new techniques.
